Spiritual Gifts Test

A spiritual gift test can be accessed from the link to the left or from the (Denver Baptist Online->Online forms->Spiritual Gifts Test->20 Gift Test) menu above.  After you open the test do not refresh your browser or go to a different page until you have saved your test to come back to.  You save your test under your first and last name and you must remember it exactly as you save it to restore (captials and all).  Follow the directions and you can print out your results with the print link at the top of the page.


Gift Explanations

Administration  - 1 Corinthians 12:28
A person gifted in the area of administration likes to develop goals and organize resources to accomplish them. They like to coordinate the efforts of the ministry organization of which they are a part. They are often motivated by a desire to accomplish goals set before them and are gratified by the completion of these goals. 

Apostleship - 1 Corinthians 12:28-29, Ephesians 4:11-12
One with this gift has a desire or calling to plant churches and bring the gospel to places lacking the message of Christ. They likely have the ability to adapt to many surroundings and are culturally sensitive. They often desire to minister to unreached persons in other communities or countries.

Craftsmanship - Exodus 31:3, Exodus 35:31-35
The gift of craftsmanship is the ability to design and/or construct items that can be used for ministry. Persons with this gift enjoy developing their skills and having the opportunity to provide for needs in the church.

Creative Communication - Psalms 150:3-5
This gift is the ability and desire to communicate God’s message through a variety of art forms. There is a wide range of avenues one with this gift might choose, for example: drama, writing, and music. The use of this gift can touch people with God’s truth when words alone can’t.

Discernment - 1 Corinthians 12:8-9-10
The gift of discernment is the ability to distinguish between right and wrong or good and evil. Someone with this gift can identify deception in an appropriate manner and recognize teaching that is of pure motives and true to God’s word.

Encouragement/Exhortation - Romans 12:6-7-8
Persons with the gift of exhortation or encouragement have the ability to identify those who are discouraged or in need of strengthening their faith. They are drawn to those in need and are willing to share their own personal failures to help someone seeking and needing spiritual growth. They motivate others to grow while stressing God's promises and urging others to have confidence in His will.

Evangelism - Ephesians 4:11-12
A person gifted in the area of evangelism has the strong burden to share the gospel with non-believers. They tend to be very effective at communicating the word of Christ in a clear and convicting manner. They receive the most joy in ministry from seeing the unsaved won for Christ. They also tend to devote more time toward the ministry of winning souls for Christ than any other ministry of the church.

Faith - 1 Corinthians 12:8-9
The gift of faith enables a person to have unwavering belief that God will fulfill his promises and answer prayer. Such a gifted person provides an extraordinary strength for other believers in difficult times.

Giving - Romans12:6-7-8
The gift of giving is characterized by willingness to cheerfully and liberally give to support the work of God. A person with this gift often has a wisdom concerning money matters. They are able to discern wise investments and manage money wisely. They may see financial needs often overlooked by others. They enjoy seeing needs being met with credit going to God for the needs being met.

Helps - 1 Corinthians 12:28 , Romans 12:6-7
Persons with this gift have the ability and desire to help bare the burden of others in ministry. They often take on practical tasks that might free up others, especially those in a role of leadership in the church. They see the spiritual value in practical service. See note at end of Service.

Hospitality - Hebrews 13:1
This is a gift enabling persons to make others feel comfortable and at home. This gift may be used to make new Christians or visitors feel welcome in the church. They also will likely do the same in their own home when having visitors. Thus their home will often be of service for Christ.

Intercession - Romans 8:26-27
The gift of intercession gives one the ability, given by God, to consistently pray on others behalf. One with this gift tends to be spiritually sensitive and notice frequent and specific results to prayer. They often are led by the Holy Spirit to pray about things they know very little about.

Knowledge - 1 Corinthians 12:8
This gift enables certain Christians to understand God’s Word in an exceptional way. They are also able to apply this in a relevant and specific way to the church body. Persons with this gift search the scripture for insight, organize information (for teaching and practical use), and may gain knowledge not attainable through research alone.

Leadership - Romans 12:6-7-8
This is a gift that gives some Christians the ability to see the “big picture”, present a vision, and motivate others toward the purposes of God. They help attain a harmonious environment within the church and help set goals that provide direction for the church.

Mercy - Romans 12:6-7-8
Persons with the gift of mercy have an extraordinary compassion for those who are suffering. They often sense hurt in others and take joy in helping to alleviate that hurting. They may tend to attract people who are in distress and have the ability to bring the emotions of others out when necessary to help.

Prophecy - Romans 12:6 , 1 Chorintians 12:9-10 & 28
The gift of prophecy gives persons the ability and compels them to speak God’s truth in any situation. The convictions of a person with this gift are strong and they expect the same of others. The Holy Spirit gives persons with this gift the power to know God’s truth and discern the sincerity of others.

Service - 1 Corinthians 12:28, Romans 12:6-7
The gift of service allows some Christians to identify and help to meet the needs of others. While all Christians are called to serve one another, a person with this gift has an extraordinary desire to meet practical needs and the ability to identify the needs of others. Very similar to Helps but more physically/task oriented.

Shepherding - Ephesians 4:11-12
Shepherding is a gift allowing some to take responsibility for the spiritual maturity and long-range growth of a group of believers. Individuals with this gift are motivated by a desire to see those in their group in a healthy and growing spiritual condition. They tend to be protective of those under their care and try to lead them out of harms way.

Teaching - Romans 12:6-7, 1 Corinthians 12:28-29
The gift of teaching provides one with the ability to understand God’s Word and present it to others in a clear and organized form. Persons with this gift have a desire to study and research God’s Word so they can understand what God is saying. They also have a great ability to present and know how to communicate what they have learned to others.

Wisdom - 1 Corinthians 12:8
Wisdom is a gift of special insight into situations that provide an avenue to discern God’s will in a specific instance. The Holy Spirit works in persons with this gift to give them an understanding of God’s will and work in relation to everyday life.
